Fun in the sun, again

Illahee state Park Noah having a great time throwing the ball for Lego at the little league field

The boys taking a break in the shade with Lego

Today we got up and decided to forego all work in the yard and play as a family. We headed off to Illahee state park and played on the beach for the afternoon. There were a ton of people at the beach gathering oysters, opening them on site. The kids were in awe watching these people open the oysters, and in some cases, eat them on the spot. Jonah used his charm to have someone help him open an oyster, and he ran up the beach yelling, "Hey mom, can we eat this for dinner?" We didn't end up bringing the only sand covered oyster home for dinner today, maybe next time. Jacob was the master engineer of the "sand city" on the beach, enslaving his two brothers for the work crew. Before we left, we walked to the end of the pier where there were a lot of people fishing. The kids parked it next to a 12 year old boy who was fishing and they were again, in awe, asking him as many questions as they could. This guy caught three fish while we were watching, and the kids were going wild. They could have stayed there all day long.

We left the beach and picked up Lego from home and took him out to the little league field to let him run after the ball. It was a little too hot for the dog and the kids. Lego had a great time running around, but everyone had to stop and lay in the shade for awhile. When we brought Lego home today, he crashed for two hours and didn't move, and so did the kids. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday.

Rebecca went on a bike ride yesterday and Jacob had a pretty bad wipe out. He was going down a hill and he had a hard time stopping. He fell off the bike and scraped things up pretty bad. Thank goodness that he didn't break anything. Rebecca said it was awful to watch. Jonah and Noah were standing next to Rebecca and when it happened, they all went running. Jonah was so worried that he started crying. Noah just stood there quiet the whole time Rebecca tried to calm Jacob down. So, a nice walk/ride, turned into Jacob and Jonah screaming, with a mute Noah standing on the side lines. Where was I you ask during this nice family event. I was out seeing Transformers. It was great by the way. Jacob is doing fine today. As you can imagine, band-aids everywhere. He briefly wrote off riding any bike for good, but we used this as a learning opportunity, and I think he will saddle up one day soon.
