Odds and ends from summer

We attempted to go blackberry picking....I know, I Know, most of you would say that it is too early to do so and you are probably right. We did get some blackberries but what we also got was an hour of walking around with the kids while they wore their empty buckets on their heads. They were also tired when they got home. It was Noah's birthday the next day so he had his cousin, Nolan, over to spend the night. They had a great time. The whole family loved having him at our house. What's one extra boy in the grand scheme of things?

I think this was the one berry that Nolan got and I think it was pretty sour. There are good ones high up, but the ones down low are still green

Jacob, of course, got all of the gloves etc for the picking project. Not about how many you pick but do you have the right equipment. He also brought a small wooden ladder for the hard to reach places.

Like usual, Noah and Nolan didn't do a whole lot of picking but fooled around a lot more.

The picking crew walking to the destination. There is the ladder that Jacob brought.

Noah getting caught eating smores in the backyard after dinner one night.

Even though it was really hot, we ended up staying outside until it cooled down, so why not build a fire and roast marshmallows? Rebecca is the queen of putting together the perfect smore.

Doesn't that fire look nice on a 98 degree day. I sure think so. Rebecca's cousin Amanda was able to stay with us for the past couple days which made for some really fun days. I think she was a bit overwhelmed by the constant motion. We enjoyed having her.

Rebecca met a friend, Jennifer Tracer, in Port Townsend at the beach and stayed all day long. They had non-stop fun. I don't really know how they keep going at the rate they are. Jacob's favorite thing is being buried.

The looked for jelly fish and must have found over a 100 dead jellyfish. Jonah got stung by one. You know what they say to do with a jelly fish sting don't you?

A week ago, we went over to Sarah and Josh's House and helped put in grass, raised beds, and weeded a lot. the kids love going over there and riding their bikes, playing their Wii and helping us out. Here is Jacob watering the strawberries. It was really hot that week also.

Here is the other raised bed that was weeded and new plants emerged.

Here is one section that we removed bark and put grass seed and top soil in...not in that order, but you know what I mean.

We did the same closer to the house.

Put some bark in and trimmed up the plants in this raised bed. We worked hard, but it felt good to help out.

We stopped working one day that week and went to a family reunion/picnic in Sumner, WA with Rebecca's side of the family. It was good to see everyone. Isn't summer about reunions and bbq's?

Here is great-grandma Snelling with Jonah and Rebecca. It is always so good to see them.

Our kids love coming and seeing "cousin Timmy". Jacob and Timmy were sharing stories from their DS's

Great-grandma and the boys. Lots to do all summer and not enough time. We still have Noah's birthday, a beach trip with Tim and Carrie, a Family reunion in Sun River, OR, and maybe camping. Hurry up!
