Hockey, camping, end of summer and 1st birthday

Jonah started playing hockey in September and his uncle Josh is helping out. Jonah loves all the equipment he gets to put on just to go out on the ice. He always comes home sweaty, tired, and hungry. He is really loving it so far.

Fully geared up without the skates, of course.

Since we had a longer summer that spilled into September, we continued to have fires at night in the yard and roast marshmallows. It was a great summer this year, and I just wasn't ready to stop. One night we sat outside and looked for the passing space station and we saw it. It passed over our house at around 8:30 p.m. It moved pretty fast.

Noah loves the night time trampoline activities. Yes, it is dangerous, but not as dangerous as other things he could be getting into.

The kids did spot the space station and kept asking if it was really true.

The kids even brought blankets out on the hammock and watched the stars.

Jacob, of course, set up a big nest with his key board and anything else he would need for the evening.

Over one weekend, I took Jacob and his best friend, Jack, camping just a couple of miles from here at Illahee state park. They had a great time and mostly loved the food. Jack hadn't ever been camping so this was a great experience for Jacob and him.

Had to teach him how to do s'mores, so Jacob took that task on.

Played cards via lantern and then the kids kept asking if they could go to bed. I was going to let them stay up as long as they wanted, but they were in the tent by 8:30 p.m.

They were so excited to have most of the tent to themselves.

The next morning we went down to the beach and it was nice and sunny out. They played in the sand for an hour while I sat back and took another nap. Rough duty for me.

There were scuba divers in the background taking a class. The kids got to talk to them about all the gear they had to wear in the water.

They had to hike all the way back to camp up the hill and across the bridge. They had a great time.

Taking a rest

Thomas turns 1!!
In September, our nephew Thomas turned 1 so they had a family party for him. Amanda got to steel a picture with Noah.

It was still pretty nice out so we got to be outside, which was so much nicer. The kids ran and played football.

What a great cake for Thomas.

Like always, this seems to be the best part, watching Thomas rip apart his cake and smear it all over himself.

Camping #2-Noah and Jonah
That next night, I still had the tent up at Illahee, so I surprised Jonah and Noah and took them camping on Saturday. They had a great time too. It was nice to split the boys up a little and have some different time with them.

I love taking a walk through the forest. There was no one around, so we had the whole place to ourselves.

We found an old, abandoned, telephone booth at the campground and the kids wanted me to explain to them what it was and why they would need to have it there. So strange that they had to ask. I'm getting older.

We walked to one of the parks within Illahee and we played until it got dark, which the kids thought was awesome. We had a great end to September and tried to do as much as we could with the warm weather. Now we are off and running into fall.
