2009 Annual camping trip with the boys

My dad and I took Jonah and Noah camping for the night at Kopachuck state park in Gig Harbor. Jacob went to a cold play concert with his Aunt Sarah and mom. By the way, Jacob had a great time at the concert. he was torn to miss the camping trip at first but he loved the concert way too much. Packing and unpacking always takes the longest.

Everyone got a chance to hammer in the stakes and no fingers were compromised.

Jonah was a natural.

Like always, once the tent is set up, the most favorite part is setting up your own area with your sleeping bag etc. Jonah must have moved his about 5 times, but he finally settled next to me.

Noah had an easy time picking a spot and staying with his decision. No muss, no fuss.

We took the walk down to the water and found some cool trees that had fallen into the water or on the beach.

Papa Doug and the kids.

Both of the kids had many chances to take pictures for us, most of which were deleted before we downloaded them due to the blurry nature.

Catching the kids at what they do best, climb anything that is not moving faster than them.

They actually posed for this one.

This was the view looking back as we walked back up the hill.

great trails everywhere.

Almost back to the campsite.

My dad got out his tackle box and the kids looked through it with him and were amazed at all of the old things he had in there, some of which was his dad's. Noah wanted to smell all of the bait.

Caught Noah in the act of smelling Salmon eggs.

We taught the boys how to play cribbage, which they did a pretty good job at with some help from us.

Noah was losing steam towards the end of the day but wouldn't admit it at all. Never admit you are tired when you are 5.

Taking at 2 minute nap after the first drink of my beer. The nap lasted about 2 minutes 3 seconds because Noah wanted to show me the picture he had taken.

He caught my great side.

Papa also showed them how to widdle a stick. The kids first looked at each other funny when he said widdle, sounds too much like piddle. They laughed until he explained himself. They also learned to "hug a Tree" if they get lost in the woods.

After dinner, it was s'more time, like always. It is more management making sure no one gets a flaming marshmallow stuck to their skin.

Noah staring at the fire in a daze!

After a 6 hour sleep for Jonah and a 8 hour sleep for Noah, the kids were up and ready for their oatmeal and donut. Noah knocked over the boiling water all of the table so it took a little bit longer to get out oatmeal and coffee made.

Breakfast time. There was thunder and lightening all morning long so we closed up shop a little early, which ended up being a good decision since the rain started as we drove away. We had a great time, missed Jacob, but I'm sure he has some pictures from the concert he is going to share with us. Happy Camping!
