Happy Pre-Birthday Jacob..turning 9!

We decided to do the family birthday party on Labor Day since everyone could make it. Jacob's birthday isn't until September 5th, but with the first week of school, it was going to be too hard to fit a family birthday in. It worked out great. I thought this was a perfect picture of Jacob. He got a skate board from Jonah and Noah, he got the fishing vest from his grandparents, so he decided to combine both gifts.

Rebecca made an ice cream cake per request of Jacob, that turned out great. I think there was only 2-3 minutes of quiet which happened after the cake had been served.

This was the quiet moment that I spoke of earlier. Jacob always loves having his cousins over to play. They did a scavenger hunt around the yard, which was filled with candy--like they needed any more sugar.

We weren't sure we were going to be able to have it outside that day. It was only in the mid sixties, but at least it wasn't raining. Boy the weather this summer has been awful.

We are all to the time in our life where we all sit back in our chairs and watch the kids open gifts commenting on how tired we are all the time. I remember my aunts and uncles doing this when I was younger. Now we are those people. The chairs were sure comfortable though.

Jacob was so excited to get a DS game, Pokeman diamond version. He had been asking for the game the past four months. He showed incredible restraint and didn't ask to play the game until the very end of the party.

The motley crew. They had a fake camp fire set up under the trees. We wouldn't have been surprised if Jonah whipped out his lighter and got the thing burning.

This was when they were figuring out the next clue for their scavenger hunt. I was amazed at how they worked well together to find all ten clues. Sophia ran along behind them yelling, "wait up for me." It was fun to have everyone over. On Friday, we are going to have a family birthday dinner and hang out. The kids will be tired after the first week of school. Jacob gets to bring cupcakes to his class on Friday.
